Design of Active Antennas

We have designed on a JSEP contract patch antennas integrating together the active and radiating elements. Non-linear simulations are performed with the harmonic balance simulator Libra using an improved Kurokawa analysis coupled to the results of the full wave analysis of the patch antenna. Evaluation of Novel Substrate for Microstrip Antennas

In a research project supported by Glasteel we studied the applicability of a novel low-cost substrate (GML1000) to the fabrication of patch and printed antennas. Transmission line resonator experiments are used to extract the dielectric constant and dielectric loss tangent. The impact of the loss tangent on the antenna directivity and gain was analyzed both theoretically and experimentally. Patch antennas with an efficiency of 0.8 were demonstrated.
