Welcome!

The 2010 IEEE Information Theory Workshop on Information Theory (ITW 2010, Cairo) will take place on January 6-8 in Cairo, Egypt. Cairo is the capital city of Egypt and is the largest city in Africa and the Arab world. The workshop is held at a historic hotel (The Mena House Hotel) in the shadow of the great pyramids, which is a short distance from the city center.

Its purpose is to be a forum for technical exchange among scientists and engineers working on fundamentals of information theory. The agenda are broad and will cover the diverse topics that information theory presently impacts.

There will be both invited and contributed sessions. Papers for the contributed sessions are solicited, but not limited to, the following areas:

• Coding theory and practice
• Cryptography
• Detection and estimation
• Information theory and statistics
• Multiterminal information theory
• Pattern recognition and learning
• Shannon theory
• Source coding

Important Dates

Abstracts up to 5 pages should be submitted by August 22, 2009 (extended deadline), following the guidelines on this webpage. Authors will be notified of acceptance decisions by October 12, 2009 (updated date). The final version, to be published in the workshop proceedings, will be due by November 16, 2009 (extended deadline).

Updates

• Participants are encouraged to arrange for airport pickup with their respective hotels. Please copy ITW support at itw10.support@nileu.edu.eg so we can follow up on your pickup request.

  A shuttle bus will operate on Wednesday/Thursday/Friday between select hotels and the conference venue. The route taken by this shuttle bus is announced at travel information.

• There will be a welcome reception on Tuesday (January 5, 2010) at 5pm and a banquet on Thursday (January 7, 2010) evening. The workshop's official excursion will be held on Saturday (January 9, 2010).

• The technical program is posted.

• The registration information is posted.

• The instructions on uploading the final manuscripts are posted. Please check paper submission.

• The accommodation, invited sessions and social events information are posted.
